Star Wars Episode 7 set for 2015 Lucasfilm bought by Disney

I do not know how to take this. It is just opening so much up, but I fear for Star Wars. But then excited for Episode 7.

BAH..all set... cant think of 2 things that i despise more...i used to be a star wars fan..but now i can even get threw any of them (including the original 2) with out fall asleep or just being annoyed..

No way...Lucas give up his baby? I just don't see it. And an Episode 7? Unless it's set in the far future of Star Wars I just don't see how it would work.

With the live-action TV series dead in the water, Lucas did say he was retiring from Star Wars.

I look at what Disney did to ERB's Mars series with John Carter, I really worry with everything Star Wars is from the Clone Wars tv show, to the toys to all of it, I just wonder if Clone Wars will now continue. And will Disney work in all of the novels and everything into a cohesive storyline?? So much to wonder about.

This is the best news I've ever heard. Get Star Wars away from Lucas, who clearly can't produce anything good himself.

Oh great. As if episode 1,2 & 3 weren't bad enough. I'm not against expanding the universe... I'm against weak story telling, unimaginative plots & horrible acting.

I cannot wait for the internet to explode with nerd rage once released. It'll be a better show than the movie!

I agree. Maybe in someone else's hands it can be great again. If it goes bad, it's already kinda jumped the shark or nuked the fridge or whatever, so it's not like there's a whole lot to lose.

I just saw this elsewhere and I thought someone was pulling a prank. Guess not! Lucasfilm and Disney have had a relationship already as Disney has Star Tours in their parks, so this makes sense from that perspective. Where Disney will take it will be quite interesting. I have to wonder where an Episode VII will fit!

Oh no, now Star Wars is going to go down the crapper! I mean, what did Disney do with Marvel? The Avengers? Oh... oh yeah.

Lucas made 6 Star Wars movies and only 2 1/2 of them were good. This might end up being a good thing.

I dunno, this could go either way. Both for the live action films and the Clone Wars. With Disney at the helm maybe Ahsoka's future has a better chance for happiness. (I really hope she survives the series)

See, I've been telling people all along that Lucas isn't some kind of money-hungry megalomaniac. Save that title for Rupert Murdoch. Of course, seeing this statement still won't stop a lot of people from believing Lucas to be the Devil Incarnate. Some of the comments in this thread astound me.

Anyway, sadly, we can kiss goodbye to the EU. At least everything that takes place after ROTJ.
