30th Anniversary Meejitz

2012 marks He-man and the Masters of the Universe's 30 years in existence and I wanted to mark it in some way. I wasn't sure what I was going to do as I'm already SLOWLY making my way through the characters. Then recent events granted me an idea.

Each month I will be celebrating with a character drawn for those who have kept the series going in some form. You'll guess some of the guys

This is for one of the original MOTU creators, Mark Taylor, of the first sketch of He-Man known as Torak. Mark Taylor will never see this, but I wanted to show how grateful I was as without Torak, He-Man may never have existed in his current form. So glad I bought a Power and Honour book or I would never have known about this.

Jason Clarke / Poe Ghostal was one of the first few people to review the MOTUC figures when they came out. His reviews are always fair and he does take some great photographs of the figures as well.

Lately he does seem to have fallen a bit out of love for the line, but he was (Maybe is) still one of its great supporters.

People were throwing some unkind words when he had "quit" the line according to a few people. I love the take on Illumina as she's rarely seen in action and boy what action does this depict!

NIGHT-LICK

This one may prove to be controversial to some He-Fans. Scott Neitlich, Brand Manager for Mattel, created a character for himself called the Mighty Spector which I don't think is too bad, now I've had time to absorb him into my brain.



Now I wanted to do a 30th Anniversary Meejit for Scott, despite him already getting a character, because he's done a hell of a lot for the brand, especially bringing it back when there could be no MOTU prescence at all. So instead of a hero, I created a villain alter ego for Scott, something I would find cool. Having a think, I changed Neitlich to Night-lick and that just spun some ideas in my head. Night-lick is the missing link between the Repton's and Merman's race, living in perpetual darkness in the caves beneath Eternia. Sunlight will burn him, and he is blind, but he has excellent hearing, poisonous skin and an extra long sticky tongue!!!



I doubt Mr Neitlich will get to see this (Making him a villain is not meant to offend him either), but I hope you guys like it.

This is yet another prime example of why fans many times have far better ideas than the people in charge- I would have taken this character for Scott's slot in about two seconds over The Monkey Sphincter

Schizo (Seriously I didn't name this character) was created by Roger Sweet for the MOTU toyline. According to the @Power_And_Honor Foundation, it was one of his most beloved creations, which was changed a lot, much to his chagrin. Also as some fans have felt that Roger Sweet has not be acknowledged with the future release of Vykron, I thought I'd draw this up in honour of one of the creators of Masters of the Universe.



I don't think I would have bought it (What does he does with the flower?), but I wanted to put have some fun with the concept.

I'm really glad they went the Two-Bad route instead. I dunno how effective a guy who's half bad, half good would be. :P

Hah ha ha that was the idea. If you listen to "Masters of the Universe Chronicles" where we talk about the Power and Honour Foundation book, I mention it I think... or at least llude to it. ha ha.

Art-Hurr - Heroic Guardian of Queen Angella

Arthur Burlo has been a great supporter of MOTUC since its inception and even started The Great Rebellion - Collector's Club , offering fans competitions, prizes and news, not to mention branching off to other properties. This is his character in the MOTU universe.

Finally finished, my set of the Four Horsemen. Thanks to The Fwoosh's Nic Wood/ VeeBee for thinking of the names!

This is Dreadaway ( Based on Eric Treadaway), representing Death in the line-up.



BIO: Once part of Vikor’s nomadic tribe, Dreadaway is the leader of The Four Horsemen. Before he was known as Erik, a mighty warrior, who sought glory and honour. When asked to protect the Sword of He, Vikor also sent his best warriors to find other great relics of power so that they would not fall into evils grasp. Erik went to find the Armour of Muerte, said to be indestructible and would bestow the bearer with immortality. After many years of searching, and losing his entire band of men, Erik discovered the armour. He decided he would don the armour and arrive home, a hero. As he placed the final piece on, he felt a surge of pain like electricity, and with that Erik was no more. His soul lost in the void, only his body remained (Which would become the skeleton that inhabits the armour now). The armour was cursed, needing a willing body to bring it back to life. Now called Dreadaway, it went on a rampage, killing and feeding the souls of its victims to his Scythe. This caught the attention of Vikor, who met with the demon armour and a great battle ensued. The armour was over-confident and didn’t count on the Sword of He being of great power. Vikor sliced off the face plate of the helmet, revealing Erik’s face underneath. Saddened by the revelation, Vikor swung his sword again, knocking the stunned Dreadaway into a gorge below. It would be a few years before Dreadaway resurfaced again, now in charge of a group of outcasts known as The Four Horsemen, Hordak’s Team of Destruction. How it came to be in Hordak’s service is unknown, but the hate for the Sword of He burns brightly and Dreadaway won’t stop till it has destroyed the blade which took a piece of it.
