I really can't wait to see this. I did download a torrent a while back, but it was such a bad quality I couldn't watch. I'll gladly fork over some dollars to get a nice quality DVD set. Especially with a new documentary!
And a new generation of Jennifer Chase-crushing boys will have their hearts torn out by the last episode!!
Is this show worthy of a purchase? I remember never being able to watch it as a kid cuz it came on Sundays when my grandfolks would make me go to church with them. But I had all the toys (still do) and the vhs/interactive tapes.
Like, is there a compelling story to watch it as an adult now or is it just nostalgia seeing an old show on tv again for people?

Captain Power was VERY ahead of its time and 100% cyberpunk before cyberpunk would become popular in mainstream culture. Said that, it's just a great post-apocalyptic series.

I LOVED this show and the toys!! The playset was amazing.
I remember the first thing was Captain Power and his charging station and I had no idea what it was, but it was amazing lol.
Watching that movie that Emiliano posted made me think, "Gee, this looks a lot like the MOTU movie." Then Gary Goddard pops on the screen!! He CLEARLY used the same costume designer and builders lol!!

I'm pretty sure Man-At-Arm's helmet in the movie was lifted directly from Captain Power. It has the same symbol.
What if they scan the original FILM version on HD just for preservation from decay and time, despite there is no post-production FX and CGI added? We don't know, maybe in the future it wouldn't be so expensive to re-make the effects and get a blu-ray edition. IN THE WHILE they could preserve the film footage on HD.

Star Trek: The Next Generation is being released on Blu-Ray in 2012. The went back and recut the original film, so that it could get a proper HD transfer. Some of the FX had to be redone because of this. I don't see Captain Power getting this same type of treatment, because it looks like it was all shot on video. Video does not transfer well to Blu-Ray DVD.
I'm excited about these DVDs, but I'm a bit dissappointed that the game play element (the bright pink neon lights) will still be there. If it still works with the toys, then that's cool, but I don't think it will with today's televisions. Those effects stand out as a big eyesore to me. I would prefer that they were removed, or at least toned down to not appear so bright on screen.

yeah its similar to why Highlander is never going to be done properly in HD (just upscaled which is how the BD seasons so far have been) because the show was completely video based.

I don't mind the bright colors that were part of the toy features. To me, it's sort of part of the look. They can skip it if they do a new version though.
Most of the costumes for Captain Power were made by HMS Studios. They also made the Eternian weapons, Air Centurion, and Robot Troopers armor in the MOTU movie.

This is what Video Service Corp said on Facebook, "Basically the toys will work with the DVD if you watch it on an older tube TV (with an interlaced signal)."
it is worthy of a purchase, the stories are great and introduce very cool ideas. if you liked the deeper episodes of the original atar trek you will notice some elements similar to that in this series. I recall specifically the episode "And Study War no More"
it's a great series.

Anybody find this at a brick & mortar? I went to a couple stores today, but couldn't find it. I guess I'll get it online eventually, but I was hoping to snag it in person.
