    Ewoks & Droids

Any fans here of the two live-action Ewoks movies or the Ewoks and Droids cartoon series?

This week marks the 25th Anny of the Ewoks first live action movie.

Although I do not like them as much as the 6 main live action movies or the Clone Wars cartoon, I do enjoy them. I got the live action movies and the cartoon episodes that are spliced into movies DVDs that came out around 2004. I do hope that some day Droids and Ewoks get complete series DVD releases.

    Chris here...

The Ewoks and Droids cartoons were my first exposure to the Star Wars universe as a kid (without me even realising it!) and I loved them. I too have those "spliced-into-movies" DVDs and really enjoyed seeing the shows again!

I think the first season of Ewoks was very strong indeed, second season not quite so much - I can't remember enough about Droids to really comment, but I'd love to see both shows get full season releases - and, unlike a lot of 1980s cartoons, I'd have thought that the sales from those shows should be just about high enough to support a full series release?

    Take care...

Yeah I loved both cartoons & have both complete series in bootleg form, but will buy them in a heartbeat when Lucas puts them out. Wow I hadn't realized it was 25 years since Ewoks 1. I loved the second one more than the first one as I hated the family esp. cindle. But I've seen posts on some fan sites that claim lucas is working on a super set with all 6 movies, 2 ewok movies, & both Droids & Ewoks similar to the Planet of the Apes set in the monkey head.

Home of many hard to find classic 80's toons, even though they might be bootlegs.

I love the Ewoks and do not understand the hate. The toon and movies are way better than Episodes 1 & 2. (The beginning of the 2nd where the family gets killed is stupid though.)

I dare Lucas to put out a Jar Jar Binks movie and see how well THAT does.

I thought the first Ewok movie was okay at best, but i think the second one was a very descent fantasy, certainly a lot better then a good deal of more recent stuff with higher production values (Dungeons and Dragons, Eragon)

Did not get to watch much of Ewoks and have always wanted to see it, I do have all the Droids episodes from PAL retail tapes and the entire run on VHS (now transferred to DVD) from Sci Fi channel.

I love Droids, I was so angry when it came out the way it did all spliced together

The live action Ewoks movies were alright, I remember them on TV but never thought they were very good.

Yep I am. I have watched them on Youtube a few times and really like the movie and cartoons but then again I am a SW nut anyway.

Since I was the right age for them when Return Of The Jedi came out, I loved the Ewoks as a kid(and still do as an adult). I liked the cartoon as a kid(although I hate that second theme song posted above) but I really loved the first live action movie. I didn't like the second one as much since I thought it was depressing that the little girl's family gets slaughtered.

As much as I love R2D2 & C3PO, I didn't really watch Droids. IMO, it didn't count since it happened before Episode 4 and no other characters from the film franchise were used. At least that's how I saw it as a kid.

2nd season of Ewoks is utterly horrid... what were they thinking?!

And Droid TV special The Great Heep.... ugh.

    And Boba Fett:

I never got the appeal of Boba Fett(I'm kinda happy that the Prequels have killed a lot of his cult following). I thought the other bounty hunters were so much cooler looking(except for maybe Dengar).

I don't think we ever had the second ewok intro from the above clips here in the UK, can't say I mind I really don't like it. I love the first one though, I was disappointed when the intro wasn't on the dvd cos it really has great memory's for me.

The Great Heep was not too bad, I like watching it even today thinking of it in the context of 80's cartoons.

I used to love the Ewoks toon as a kid. I never got into Droids, which is really strange.

For a while last summer, the entire run of Droids was on YouTube, with the intros and credits intact. I watched a bunch of them, but never did get a feel for it.

I'd buy these both on DVD, no question. I have everything else from SW on DVD, why not these?

It looks like figures for Teek and Kaink from the Ewok live action movies will be coming out in the future.

    Teek:

    Kaink:

Hopefully, the Toy Fair this weekend can shed some light on these figures. I hope they aren't Star Tours exclusives, because they will be harder to track down.

Ugh! that second opening to Ewoks is horrible! Thank god we were spared seeing it as kids over here!

I have a UK VHS of Ewoks still! It's volume 4 of the releases (I think they released the whole of season 1 on VHS over here?)

I felt the same way as a kid. I loved robots, C3PO, and R2D2, but I only watched Ewoks. For some reason, Droids never appealed to me.
