Ambrosia is produced by the Andreenids and serves as the main food source of Buzz-Off's people, as well as granting them increased strength and power. In other beings, it gives them similar effects, making anyone who eats it virtually unstoppable, however the effects wear off and weaken anyone who is not Andreenid.
